The Calusa Herpetological Society
Of Southwest Florida

Thursday, November 6, 20147:00 pm

SPEAKER & TOPIC The speaker for this evening is one of the Calusa Herp Society's founding members, Bill Love.  He will be making the trek from Arizona to present his latest lecture: "The Art & Fun of Fieldherping''. It will be a photo-intensive discussion of the enjoyment and techniques of getting out in the field to find and observe herps, and photograph them.  Bill Love will present the subject in-depth incorporating today's factors (vs. the relative 'freedoms' of yesteryear), and including things like expenses, legalities and ethics.  Also covered will be specific aspects such as: 1.) plotting the place to look, 2.) checking regulations pertaining to where you're going, 3.) preparing the necessary gear, 4.) best times and weather conditions, 5.) road-cruising tips, 6.) photography suggestions, 7.) good field etiquette for the environment, etc........  It'll be a fairly comprehensive 'introduction', and fully illustrated with lots of pix (of course)!  Bill promises to make it a pleasure to watch and learn from, even for those wives and kids who might not think they'd enjoy herping 'beyond the deli cup'.  This brand new presentation was developed and debuted in 2014.

There will be lots to learn and rehash from this one. As always, his talk promises to be very entertaining. So come on out and say to hi to an ol' friend. See you there!

Don't forget to come out to Stevie Tomatoes on Daniels Blvd and I-75 after the meeting, for food and plenty of informal herp talk.

WHO'S INVITED ? You are! Anyone with an interest in any aspect of herpetology or herpetoculture is welcome to attend, learn, and exchange their experiences with our friendly membership. Come out to meet others who keep, breed or study reptiles and amphibians, and let them share their fascination with you. We average 20 – 35 people attending every meeting.

Cookies and cold soda, a nightly raffle of live herps, herp products, and books follow each speaker's talk, and lots of herp camaraderie, gossip, and fun can be counted upon at all meetings !
